Long ago, in the city of Makkah, there lived a man whose heart was so pure that even those who did not believe in him gave him a special name — Al-Amin. The Trustworthy One.
His name was Muhammad, the Prophet of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him.
Before the revelation came, he loved stillness. He would climb through the rocky hills above the city to a quiet cave called Hira. There he would sit alone, looking out over the sleeping city below, and turn his heart toward Allah.
He did not know yet what was coming.
One night, the angel Jibril appeared in that cave. And he said one word.
"Iqra." Read.
The Prophet felt himself held close and then released. "I am not able to read," he said.
Again. "Iqra."
And again. And with the third time, something no human had ever experienced before — words from Allah entered his heart, clear and luminous:
"Read in the name of your Lord who created. Created the human being. Read, and your Lord is the Most Generous."
The Prophet came down from the mountain with his heart trembling. He walked quickly through the dark and reached home.
"Cover me," he said to his beloved wife, Khadijah. "Cover me."
She wrapped him in a warm cloth. She held him close. And then she said words that showed the greatness of her faith:
"Allah will never humiliate you. You are always good to your family. You help those with nothing. You are generous to guests. You stand with people through hardship."
She believed him immediately — before anyone else in the world.
And that night, everything changed. The Quran — all of it — began with one word. A word that tells every child, every person, every heart: knowledge matters. Seeking to understand the world Allah made is itself a form of worship.
Iqra.
So when you open a book, dear one — remember. The very first word Allah sent to His last prophet was an invitation to learn.
Close your eyes now. Rest your mind. And know that every question your heart holds is a door — and Allah is the One who opens doors.
